Tale of Two Kingdoms

Birds only know the light of the sky, and plants need this light to grow. But too much light will burn a plant.

Fish only know the waters of the deep, and plants need this water to grow, for it brings up the nutrients from below.  But too much water will drown a plant.

We are plants that grow in the soil. We start as seedlings, sprout into grass, and our long lineages, if we are so lucky, become towering trees.

Soil is the substrate in which our consciousness incarnates to interact with other consciousnesses and forms so that it can learn and grow and, yes, even shout in excitement over the joy of existing. Without the constraints and limitations of this soil, this material world, and the trials and tribulations that come with it, we would have no challenges; no opportunities to learn and grow.

The light is the direct source of energy. Some call this God or the Great Spirit or any number of other names, but it is ineffable.

The water is harder to describe, but is like dark energy; mysterious and forbidden by the light. It is the free will and rebellion to live unopposed but without support.

The two struggle against each other, thinking of themselves as opposites and not, as they actually are, symbiotic partners of one greater creation, for without free will one would not have the opportunity to experiment and find ever better and improving ways; without the light there would be no guidance and safety and security.
